Ryan’s Top Five Tips and Tricks
VIP Vacations Disney Expert -Ryan’s- top five tips for some people who may not have traveled to Walt Disney World before or may be new to the booking experience — that maybe not everyone knows about!
#5 My Disney Experience
Now, more than ever, Disney allows you to pre-plan your stay to help you maximize your time spent on vacation. Did you know that 60 days out, 60 full days before your arrival, you can plan out your fast passes to make sure you can get on the rides you most want to experience. Even Character Meet-n-Greets and some Character spots can be planned 60 days out. It’s all done nice and easy on your app; everything at the touch of your fingertips. At 180 days prior, you can actually select your Advanced Dining Reservations. That “cant miss” restaurant or “hard to get”character dining experience? They can both be planned much further in advance. If you don’t take advantage of these things, you risk possibly missing out.
#4 Pack Snacks and Lunches
If you’ve ever been to Disney, you know how expensive food and drink can be. If you haven’t been, you might be in for a little bit of a surprise. How do we help soften that cost? Bring some snacks, bring some meals, it will definitely help lower that budget. Did you know that there are apps like Instacart that can deliver groceries to select Disney Resorts right on property? You can also stop at any of the Publix grocers close to the Disney properties and bring packaged food directly to the resorts and parks.
#3 Extra Magic Hours
Arrive early and stay late! Peak crowd hours are between 11AM and 2PM at any of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. Especially with new attractions opening up in 2019, you can expect crowds to be even larger than you initially planned. If you’ve been to the parks recently to see Pandora’s World of Avatar or Toy Story Land, you know that when one park is busy, all the parks are busy! Staying on Disney Property, you have access to extra hours to come in early or stay a bit later at any of the parks. If not, don’t worry! Just prepare to go early, beat the crowds, maybe take a break in the middle of the day, come back later, and stay even later: when the parks start to clear out.
#2 Pack Accordingly
Make sure to bring any chargers and maybe an external battery for any device you have. Your phone is your livelihood in some cases! You don’t want to be without the MyDisneyExperience App, your Camera, your ability to call and check on things like reservations. Bring a back up and bring a back up for your back up! Feel free to bring multiple bags! Separate things like necessities and snacks. Disney makes it easy to store bags before or on rides; as long as they’re not too large! If you’re the type of person who is looking to bring home presents for those not lucky enough to join you on your Disney Vacation, maybe even bring extra luggage. You don’t want to be caught adding weight to a bag that is already packed to the brim at the airport; that can cost you. You also don’t want to risk not having room if you’re planning on getting something special, with nowhere to put it. There’s nothing wrong with packing extra just to be safe!
#1 Take Time to Relax
I know we’re talking about pre-planning and you can already imagine how hot the sun down in Florida is going to be. Sometimes, you need to remind yourself that YOU ARE ON VACATION! It can get hectic running from ride to ride, reservation to reservation, and you need to be prepared for how crazy things can be. Take a deep breath. Something I specifically like to do to take a break in the middle of the day is leave! Go back to the resort, take a nap or take a dip in any of the wonderful resort pools. That’s when the parks are busiest, after all! Take a little R&R, to ensure you can make it through the rest of your day when the crowds are less busy at night. It’s a vacation, not an army drill!
BONUS: Character Palooza!
There are characters you can meet that aren’t advertised on any of Disney’s schedules at the Hollywood Studios Park. While the night time show Fantasmic is going on, head to the front of the park. You never know who you’re going to find, but one thing is for sure, there won’t be a huge crowd!
